Williams gets admitted

2016 Stanford defensive line commit Michael Williams received a critical piece of long-awaited news on Saturday. He learned that he had been admitted to the university in a conversation with his area recruiter, Tavita Pritchard.

After catching up on some various odds and ends, Williams brought up his standing with Stanford's admissions office with Pritchard.

"I had asked him about the admissions process," Williams said. "And so he said, 'It's funny you asked because I have some news about that.' I asked him was it good news or bad news. He told me, 'Do you want to hear it?' I said, 'Sure.' He told me I got in and congrats."

The news came as a significant relief for Williams, who had been concerned about his admissions fate for some time.

"It was really hard," Williams said. "It tested me. Like right before I was admitted I was flipping out. It had been a long time - I needed to know soon because I didn't want to get until a week before Signing Day or two weeks before Signing Day and not know if I had been admitted or not. So it was hard for me, but you have to be patient. I knew I was going through the same ting all the other (Stanford prospects) were going through, so we all had to be patient together."

Armed with news of his recent acceptance, Williams will join many of his future teammates on The Farm for the Cardinal's big recruiting weekend Jan. 15-17.

In addition to continuing to build relationships with the players already committed to Stanford, Williams hopes that the likes of Obi Eboh, Jeffrey McCulloch, Jovan Swann and Donald Stewart will decide to join the class.

Williams does still plan to take an official visit to Texas on Jan. 22, the weekend after his official to The Farm.

"I'll probably just chill with my family and think about the process before I sign the week after that," Williams said.

Still, despite his plans to visit Texas, Williams says he is not wavering in his decision to join the Cardinal.

"I'm real solid," he said. "The opportunity (at Stanford), you really can't turn down. I'm real solid to them."
