Wade-Perry updates Stanford interest

Dalyn Wade-Perry, one of Stanford's earlier targets in the 2017 class, remains a focus for the Cardinal as the recruiting cycle nears the stretch run.

The defensive lineman, who received a Stanford scholarship offer in the spring of 2015, has maintained strong contact with the Cardinal.

"It's been going very well," Wade-Perry said of his rapport with Stanford. "I've been building a good relationship with the coaches. Coach Reynolds is coming to our game (on Saturday). I've been talking to Coach Hansen a lot, Coach Anderson and Coach Shaw a few times. Everything is looking good."

Wade-Perry said that his recent conversations with Stanford have centered around the school's application and admissions process.

He is currently filling out his application.

"It's been going well," Wade-Perry said. "It's not too bad."

There are a number of schools still involved in Wade-Perry's recruitment, including Stanford, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Florida State, UCLA, Penn State and Rutgers, among others.

Stanford is a legitimate consideration.

"I think very strongly of them," Wade-Perry said. "Obviously it's a great program... I feel very strongly about them. They're great contenders."

Wade-Perry's next trip to Stanford will likely be in January, for the Cardinal's official visit weekend. (He also currently has a visit set to Florida State for Thanksgiving weekend.)

In the meantime, he's eager to see how Stanford handles its grueling early-season schedule.

"They have a tough stretch coming up - USC, UCLA, Oregon - a five-game stretch," Wade-Perry said. "I want to see how they respond and how they compete."

Wade-Perry and Pope John XXIII opened their season earlier today with a 39-7 win over Blair Academy.

"We're looking very good," Wade-Perry said. "As a team we've gotten a lot better this offseason. We've added a few pieces. As far as my game goes, I've definitely accentuated it. I've been working on a lot of lateral motions and just the little things to tweak. They make all the difference."
