Stanford landed one of its most important commitments in years on Thursday afternoon as the nation's No. 25 prospect, Southern California quarterback K.J. Costello, committed to the Cardinal in a ceremony at his high school.

It's been an unbelievable journey. I am proud to announce that I will be playing football at Stanford University🌲 #nerdnation #StanU- kj costello (@kj_costello) March 26, 2015
After not signing a scholarship quarterback in the 2015 class, the position was among Stanford's highest needs in 2016. The Cardinal identified Costello early in the recruiting cycle - he impressed the program at their camp after his freshman year of high school - and built a strong relationship with the talented signal caller in the 21 months to follow.
Stanford offered Costello a scholarship after he returned to camp following his sophomore year, and once again impressed. The four-star signal caller's recruitment eventually came down to Stanford, USC and Michigan, with the Cardinal earning the nod in Costello's tightly-contested recruitment.
Stay tuned to Cardinal Sports Report for much more Costello's decision in the days to come.
