Stanford in the top five for four star Matthew Cleveland

Jerod Haase and his crew of tireless recruiters are once again a serious contender for an elite player. Matthew Cleveland announced Monday that Stanford, Michigan, Kansas, North Carolina State and Florida State are his top five schools.

The 2021 guard is No. 25 overall in his class, according to Rivals. He might rise up into five star territory based on his recent performances. He starred at a basketball camp in Atlanta over the weekend called "The Opening" that was live streamed.

Rivals' Eric Bossi was impressed by Cleveland.

"I have seen Cleveland show flashes of brilliance in the past and he's always been an athletic transition finisher. I have never seen him put it together in every aspect of the game like he did on Saturday in some high-level battles while he went for a combined 64 points in two games.

Currently ranked No. 25 nationally, Cleveland was hitting shots, getting to the rim and kept the same shot out of a cannon energy all day long in what I'm told was a very hot gym. I only wish I could have seen his performance in person because if the energy came through like that on a live stream, it must have been something else on site.

If this is what we can expect from Cleveland here on out, he could be one of the top two or three shooting guard prospects in the class of 2021 and a top 10-15 player nationally."

Cleveland attends the prestigious Pace Academy in Georgia that has sent several football players to Stanford in recent years.

Stanford already has a commitment from Isael Silva in the 2021 class and has some recruiting momentum after getting the No. 23 overall point guard after landing five star Ziaire Williams in the 2020 class.
