Stanford "hosted" fast-rising 2022 TE Oscar Delp Sunday

In the midst of his dominant junior season, Stanford hosted West Forsyth (Cummings, Georgia) tight end Oscar Delp for a virtual visit Sunday. Delp was joined by both of his parents and they all logged off the Zoom meeting impressed by what they had seen and heard.

"It was great," he said in a direct message to Cardinal Sports Report. "The school offers a lot and it is a beautiful campus."

It was previously reported that Michigan and Georgia are out ahead of a pack that includes Ohio State, USC, Auburn, Arkansas, UCLA and many others. Now, after the virtual visit to The Farm: "Stanford is definitely a school that is up there with them," Delp said.

Oscar and his parents are scheduled to visit Stanford Jan. 1 for what they hope by then will be an unofficial visit, but they're prepared to give themselves a self-guided tour if the COVID-19 dead period is still in effect. (The Delps also plan to see USC and UCLA.)

Delp spoke with head coach David Shaw, offensive coordinator Tavita Pritchard, tight ends coach Morgan Turner and recruiting director Mike Eubanks. It was his first conversations with Shaw and Pritchard.

"We had a very great call and I have a strong feeling a great relationship will continue to develop," he said.

Two topics that stood out to Delp were the internship opportunities and how Stanford utilizes tight ends.

He watched a video of players talking about the work they've done with Silicon Valley companies during the summer.

"It’s just a great opportunity and will let me really get a feel for what I want to do and can help me gain some strong connections in the business world. They offer some internships with EA Sports and the PAC 12 Network, which interest me greatly.

"We also watched some film of how they use their tight ends in so many different spots and situations which was very helpful and cool."

Delp is the No. 1 receiving target for his high school by a wide margin. He has 26 catches for 533 yards and seven touchdowns. That's an eye-popping 20.5 yards per catch and he averages 106 yards per game. He did not play in West Forsyth's 28-17 loss to perennial power Cartersville.

In a double overtime victory over rival South Forsyth, Delp had more than 150 yards receiving, two touchdowns and caught a critical two-point conversion.
