Recent Offer Roundup: Heffernan makes his first call

Among Stanford's most recent offers was the first call made by new offensive line coach Terry Heffernan.

The former Bills assistant offensive line coach spoke with Connor Robertson Thursday and offers to several other juniors and sophomores went out around the same time.

"It was an honor to receive an offer from Stanford, and especially to be Coach Heff's first one. It really is awesome!" Robertson wrote in a direct message to Cardinal Sports Report.

Since Feb. 1 he has been offered by Texas, USC, Minnesota, TCU, Northwestern, Cal and several other schools. His Hudl videos from a very successful, state championship junior season have clearly impressed a lot of coaches.

Stanford appeared to identify Robertson as a future offer recipient leading up to Kevin Carberry taking a job with the Rams and waited to offer until his replacement came on board. But they didn't wait to start building a relationship with Robertson.

He has had conversations via text or phone calls with head coach David Shaw, tight end coach Morgan Turner, defensive backs coach and area recruiter Duane Akina and recruiting director Mike Eubanks.

"Something that has stood out is the interest they have expressed and how nice they all are. I am a big fan of all of them."

Robertson got a "fantastic first impression" of Heffernan and said the coach seems like an "awesome" guy.

Robertson expects to have his first virtual visit of Stanford as early as this week.

He was off the board soon after he was on it. Hawkins is a very talented and inexperienced tight end who has played football for one season at Berkeley Prep (the same school as current freshman Connor McLaughlin). He just committed to Florida.

Cardinal Sports Report does not have hard data on this, but the success rate for Stanford in recruiting contests when the recruit is a member of the National Honors Society is probably pretty good. Wright was offered Friday after a great junior season that earned him all-state recognition.

Duke, Utah, Purdue, SMU and Boise State have offered in the past two weeks.

"It is awesome (to get an offer from Stanford)," he said. "Stanford is the school myself and many of my friends dreamed of growing up. I am really excited for the opportunity, which I know and others know is very rare. I’ve been in contact with them for a couple days."

Wright's relationship with Stanford is in the beginning stage and he hopes to participate in a virtual visit as soon as possible.

Curtis does his best to play the game with the "hair on fire" mentality and the Hudl highlight video for the 2023 safety out of Louisiana backs that up. Stanford offered Thursday after getting in touch with his head coach, who is his uncle, Jess.

"I love Stanford!" Curtis said of his reaction the offer. "I know that it’s a prestigious school with a lot to offer! I’m looking forward to taking a trip to the college!"

Stanford was Omosigho's first Power Five offer but when more coaches see his videos that won't stay true for long. He stars as a receiver and safety at Crandall High in Texas and if that town sounds familiar it's also the hometown of Branson Bragg.

Bragg played with Omosigho's older brother and Omosigho has played with Branson's younger brother, Beau. Bragg's mom is Omosigho's chemistry teacher — he told Cardinal Sports Report he has an "A" in her class.

He is a defensive back recruit for Stanford in a similar mold as Curtis: athletic playmakers who are as big as linebackers. He spoke with Duane Akina and area recruiter Bobby Kennedy when he got the offer and said "their words hit really deep".

"They really brought up the education part of their school and how there is really not a better place that has both at a very high level."
