Peek on recruiting class, commitment

2016 Florida defensive lineman Bo Peek has played a key role in the formation of Stanford's 2016 recruiting class. Not only was he the first prospect to commit in the class, but he was instrumental in the creation of the group text message chat, and he served as an unofficial visit host of sorts for some of the program's top prospects during its April Junior Day.
Peek is pleased with the way the class is progressing.

"I'm glad it's all coming together right now," Peek said.
"Pretty much for everyone that has committed or will commit, it's just how ideal Stanford is as far as the college experience with the education and good football.
And Stanford is far from done. In fact, the Cardinal could be getting more good news at some point in the not too distant future.
"All the kids that have committed or about to commit, we're all in a group chat together," Peek said. "And there are two guys that are going to try to commit on the same day."
Peek has been in touch with several uncommitted prospects over the past few months. Among them was Stanford's most recent verbal commit, Texas defensive lineman Mike Williams. Peek was understandably thrilled when Williams opted to join the recruiting class.
"I love it," Peek said. "Both of us are from two of the best football states ever. I know he has talent and I know he's been playing a lot against good linemen... I was super happy. Personally, I've never played with a big player next to me. I think my freshman year the other d-tackle was like 5-foot-7, 160, so I'm glad to have a big boy (playing with me on the defensive line).
While he will continue to do his best to help Stanford build its 2016 recruiting class, Peek is also working hard to prepare for his senior football season.
"Definitely my flexibility (has been an area of emphasis)," Peek said. "I do my morning workout at the (Performance Compound training center), and then I work out in the afternoons with the team. My schedule at the Compound is like Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday we do either single or double lifts depending on the schedule and then my Wednesdays I do hot yoga in the mornings and then I get a massage.
"Whether it's during the week or on the weekend I get to go to a football field real close and do field work with Booger McFarland and a couple of other NFL guys. It's all NFL guys I get to work out with - Ty Montgomery, Nelson Agholor, all those guys."
Peek has had a chance to discuss life as a football at Stanford with Montgomery.
"He just basically told me,' 'Don't go in there intimidated at all but be ready to work because that's what it's going to take,'" Peek said. "I feel like that's everywhere, but he was just all about business. That was his main thing. He was like, 'At some point you just need to make sure you're the best you can be so then you can help the team (as much as possible). That's basically what he was saying."
Peek has maintained consistent contact with his area recruiter, Stanford offensive coordinator Mike Bloomgren, and his future position coach, Randy Hart. He's also communicated with defensive coordinator Lance Anderson, who has advised Peek on the program's application process.
"I was talking to Coach Anderson about a week ago," Peek said. "I started filling out all the general information. I haven't started any essays yet but he did give me a lot of pointers for those."
Peek could take another unofficial visit to The Farm next month. He'll take his official visit to Stanford for either the Cardinal's matchup with Notre Dame or in mid-January for their big official visit weekend. He doesn't plan to take official visits to other programs.
"It's just going to be Stanford," Peek said. "I'm not really interested in other schools and I feel like that would be disrespecting Coach Shaw just to get a free trip. I wouldn't be interested in any other schools."
