Franklin competed in a Stanford camp two years ago; now he's committed

Anthony Franklin camped at Stanford before his sophomore year with several of his teammates from Pinnacle High. A little more than two years later he is committed to the program and admitted to the university.

Franklin recently went out to Duke to look around one of his other top schools — he also seriously considered Army, Air Force, Arizona and several others — but, when it came time to make a decision, Stanford "just felt right", he said in a direct message to Cardinal Sports Report.

Franklin had yet to play a down of varsity football when he participated in that camp at Stanford. Pinnacle plays against top competition in Arizona and challenges itself outside of the state as well.

His junior season, he had 47 tackles, 15 tackles for loss, nine sacks, two fumbles caused and a fumble recovery. As a sophomore he had 23 tackles, four tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks and a fumble caused.

"It was very exciting getting to where I am now versus where I was at that camp. The work I have put in all through the years has paid off and I’m very excited about the future at Stanford."
