Davison recaps Stanford official

Stanford hosted one of the fastest-rising prospects in the 2017 class for an official visit last week, Minnesota guard Brad Davison.

The trip was the first official visit of Davison's recruitment.

"It went really well," Davison said. "It was really cool to meet all of the coaches face-to-face for the first time."

"I met with the coaches. They gave us a tour of campus. We met with the academic adviser. We met with the players, we watched a practice. I think that was about it- we got a lot in."

Davison considered the interactions with coaches and players among the highlights of the visit.

"Like I said, first of all, I just think meeting the coaches face to face (was a highlight)," Davison said. "And then also getting to meet the players - Reid Travis was one of my good friends here (in the Howard Pulley AAU program)... it was good to see him again as well."

Stanford's coaching staff emphasized its confidence in Davison's abilities during their conversations.

"I think the biggest thing is just that they believe in me," Davison said. "I think that's the biggest thing they wanted to tell me, that they would love to have me there. They stressed their vision that they have for me at Stanford."

That vision included Davison playing "mainly the one or two guard, but mainly the one," Davison said.

The newly minted Rivals150 prospect's most significant takeaway from the trip surrounded his rapport with the Cardinal coaches.

"I think the biggest thing that I could take away is just the relationship with the coaching staff and the relationship that they have with each other," Davison said. "The coolest thing about Stanford is I've been in contact with their whole coaching staff. So our relationship has really gotten personal with all of the coaches on the coaching staff."

After returning home from his official visit to Stanford, Davison took unofficial visits to Michigan, Northwestern, Wisconsin, Dayton and Butler.

He doesn't currently have any leaders, but Stanford is under consideration.

"I'm very interested in (Stanford)," Davison said. "Just because of the academic part and also basketball-wise. Coach Haase has a great vision and a great thing going there."

Davison does not currently have any other trips planned. It might not be too long until he makes his college commitment.

"Ideally I'd like to make a decision sometime in July, but I know that's ideally and that once this process comes it gets really hard and really difficult," Davison said. "Ideally I'd like to be done in July so I can focus on football in August."

As Davison sees it, the next steps in his Stanford recruitment will include continuing conversation and relationship building with the Cardinal staff and players.

"I think (the next steps) would be just to strengthen our relationship with the coaches and with the players there," Davison said. "I've been in contact with Reid Travis quite a bit after the visit. So I think strengthening relationships is the key."
