When Stanford offered Braden Davis Aug. 27 it was a surprise for the four star quarterback and his parents, both of whom were on the Zoom meeting with Davis and all of Stanford's offensive coaches.

Davis is one of three 2022 quarterbacks Stanford has offered and they're all four stars. (You can read interviews with AJ Duffy and MJ Morris about their high level of interest in Stanford.)

"My mom and dad couldn’t believe it. It was a good experience," he said in a phone interview with Cardinal Sports Report.

“They’re going to give you everything you need to be successful," he said of Stanford. "They’re going to put you in all the right positions on and off the field.

:Stanford has had great quarterbacks in the past so that’s what they can do for the players. They have great coaches. Coach Shaw is amazing. Stanford is a top-25 team almost every year. They’re really successful.”

It's important to Davis and his parents that each school makes it clear to them what resources will be available for Davis to develop on and off the field (such as tutors, internships, etc.)

Braden's father, Antone, was an offensive lineman at Tennessee and played in seven seasons in the NFL, mostly with the Eagles.

“Every time he’s a part of a virtual visit he’ll talk to me about what he likes and what type of questions I should ask," Davis said. "He guides me and he knows little hints about what’s going on."

Davis spent his first two years of high school at Middletown High in Delaware but he transferred to Lake Minneola High in Minneola, Florida this summer to ensure that he will get to have a junior season. His first game is scheduled for Friday.

Although, Delaware reversed course Sept. 10 and will allow high schools to play football in the fall. Davis plans to go back to Delaware for his senior year and described the decision as entirely "football motivated".

Athletes across the country have done something similar. (For example, Portland native Darrius Clemons is playing this fall at Pleasant Grove in Utah and plans to go back to Oregon in the spring.)
