David Shaw Oregon State Press Conference

Head coach David Shaw spoke with the media Tuesday morning from Corvallis, Oregon. The Cardinal are preparing for the game Saturday night against the much improved Beavers.

Shaw reiterated that he expects wide receivers Michael Wilson and Connor Wedington to miss the rest of the season. He also confirmed that Josh Pakola is back home and that it was not Pakola's choice to leave the team. To the best of my knowledge, after talking with a source knowledgeable about the situation, Josh has been having a tough time adapting to doing school work, participating in football activities and in general handling the changes caused by the COVID-19 restrictions.

So, Stanford is down to four scholarship defensive linemen in the two deep and Ryan Johnson needs to start making some plays.

Shaw also spoke about the roles that Tavita Pritchard and Morgan Turner play in deciding when to break a tendency in the passing game and run game, respectively. Shaw leans on them to provide information from the booth about when they feel a play has been set up to work.

Shaw compared Myles Hinton's development to how they developed Christian McCaffrey and Bryce Love to play a small role at a high level their freshman year and then take a big step this offseason toward greater responsibility.
