For the second straight class Stanford will sign an international recruit. Greek wing Elena Bosgana announced on her Instagram Monday that she is committed to the 2021 class.

Stanford signed Agnes Emma-Nnopu from Australia in the 2020 class. (Australian Alanna Smith was the program's first international player and Canadian Mikaela Brewer and Alyssa Jerome followed in recent years.)

Bosgana is the third commit in the class that is headlined by Brooke Demetre of Mater Dei -- the No. 4 recruit in the nation and a versatile superstar at about 6-3. Jzaniya Harriel (Antelope High, Sacramento) is a 5-11 shooting guard/wing and ranked No. 52 overall by ESPN.

Bosgana is not ranked by ESPN or any of the other American recruiting services. However, there is no greater recognition of a recruit's ability than an offer from VanDerveer and Kate Paye. Stanford's recruiting the past couple years has been in the very top tier of the sport.

Bosgana's FIBA basketball profile shows her stats from the U16 European Championship. She started all seven games, averaging 19.3 PPG, 8.3 rebounds and 4.1 assists in 34.1 minutes per game.

She only made 2-of-23 3FGA in the tournament -- both in a 27-point game against Denmark -- but she attacks the basket often and effectively. She made 43-of-60 free throws. Her shooting numbers were below average (32.1 percent) but this was just one tournament and, according to her FIBA profile, she hadn't even turned 16 yet when it was played in August. (Her birthday is Dec. 3.)

Bosgana appears to already possess a creative mindset when attacking the basket and takes advantage of her good footwork to beat opponents or get fouled. She rebounds well and has good vision to find her teammates and deliver sharp passes.
