Big Visit report: Bailey McElwain

2016 Stanford fullback commit Bailey McElwain took his third trip to Stanford over the weekend to participate in the Cardinal's big recruiting weekend.

"It was great," McElwain said. "I love it, every time I go back out there it seems like it gets better. This was a great opportunity to go out there and talk with the coaches. I had more time, since game day (when I previously visited) is a really busy time for the coaches. I got to sit with Coach Turley and talk to him, see what he has planned out for me. That was really good for me to see what he has planned for me and the guys."

Along with the other visitors, McElwain partook in a variety of visit activities.

"I thin the virtual reality lab was really, really cool," McElwain said. "That really impressed me. Probably the most memorable part was actually hearing professors talk Saturday morning. I was really impressed by the knowledge and just what they had to say about football players and everything else. I was really impressed by that."

McElwain was hosted on the trip by freshmen running backs Cameron Scarlett and Bryce Love. The Alabama native also spent plenty of time with his fellow visiting recruits.

"We have a really close group, I feel like, everybody was just hanging out together," McElwain said. "I got to know people that I haven't met before. Donald (Stewart) is one of my best friends so we spent a ton of time together. Really everybody - Beau Bisharat is a really good friend, so I spent a lot of time with him."

All told, the visit served to cement his feelings that Stanford is the best college for him.

"I think we just got tighter knit as a group, just being able to hang out together," McElwain said. "Just realizing I love those guys even more than I already did, the place even more than I already did. It just confirms my commitment even more every time I go out there. Which, I mean, I'm 100 percent, but I guess you could say I'm 200 percent after all these trips."
