Every time something goes exactly according to plan in 2020 it is a noteworthy accomplishment. Stanford demolished Cal Poly 108-40 in the season opener and whenever an opponent is as thoroughly overmatched as the Mustangs against the Cardinal it waters down any takeaways. However, in my opinion the fact that this game was over in the middle of the second quarter was a good sign because the result was what you expect from the preseason No. 2 team in the country. The Cardinal looked crisp and not at all like a team stumbling out of the gate.

Haley Jones looked fantastic and picked up where she left off last season in the process of taking over the team on the court. She scored 16 points and had 10 rebounds.

The vibes from everyone after the game was like a happy family reunion. This group feels good right now.
