Much of the focus over the weekend for Stanford sports fans was the football team's dispiriting loss to Washington State. But the women's basketball program had reason to celebrate with the commitment of two star recruits.

Kiana Williams and Estella Moschkau were on official visits Stanford and left for home as committed members of Stanford's 2017 class. As a general rule official visitors for the Stanford women's basketball program have been admitted and that's good news for Cardinal fans.

Williams is rated as the No. 8 overall prospect by espnW HoopGurlz and is a dynamic point guard from Wagner High in San Antonio. When I talked to her travel-team coach, Koty Cowgill, several months ago he had this to say about the future Stanford guard:

“She knows where kids are supposed to be (on the court) and is an extension of a coach. She’s become a verbal leader. Anybody watching would agree her game has progressed every year and she comes back with something new every summer. The consistency in her three-point shot has been tremendous. That’s been showing all summer. She’s knocked down a high percentage. You can tell she’s been working on it and it’s a clean stroke.”

Moschkau is a 6-foot-2 wing from Madison Edgewood High School of the Scared Heart in Wisconsin and she is rated the No. 44 overall player by by HoopGurlz. She has been described as a stretch-four who can play from the three-point line to the paint.

The talented duo gives Stanford two top-100 commits after adding a top-10 class last year.
