Fisk maintains drama-free recruitment

At a time when many 2017 prospects - even some committed to schools - are in the midst of hectic recruitments, Stanford tight end commit Tucker Fisk is leading a rather quiet process. He doesn't have numerous trips planned, and he's no longer talking to dozens of college coaches. (Fisk said contact from other programs has died down since he committed to Stanford.)

Instead, the Davis High School star will be spending plenty of time with his high school team over the these next few months.

"At this point I feel like it's more important for me to try to end the playoff drought at my high school than to work on my recruiting, which might as well be done at this point," Fisk said.

The Stanford football legacy will also continue to develop his rapport with the Cardinal.

"It's good," Fisk said of his relationship with Stanford. "I've been talking to Coach Turner, mostly. We've just been keeping in touch. When I have questions about the application or about football or what camps to go to I ask him. It's a good relationship so far."

"(His message) right now he's just been (telling me) get the app done, go to the (Stanford) camp. There hasn't really been much of a driving message other than I guess we're supposed to recruit now that we're committed."

Fisk said that he's been working on his Stanford application for the past week or so.

"It's going to take a little while," Fisk said. "I've been (gathering) my letters of rec and writing the essays, which are taking a while. They're proving a little more difficult than I thought they would be."

Fisk will take a break from the application process next week to make the relatively short (assuming light traffic) drive down to Stanford to participate in one of the Cardinal's camps. That will be another opportunity for Fisk to continue to improve his skill set - he's been working on the receiving component of the tight end position as of late.

"This whole offseason I've been trying to improve my route running and my athleticism in that sense," Fisk said. "Up until this point I've been mostly a blocker. So I've been working on that. For the rest of the offseason I'm mostly going to be working with my high school team. I'm not going to do many camps - I'm going to one, actually - the Stanford camp on Tuesday. But other than that I'm going to be working with my high school and trying to improve as a team."

Fisk won't be Stanford's only tight end commit at camp next week. Fellow Cardinal pledge Colby Parkinson also plans to be on campus Tuesday.

"He's funny - I like him," Fisk said. "He's a good guy. It's going to be fun to play with him."

The three-star standout said that he's targeting Oregon defensive back Elijah Molden to join Stanford's 2017 class. The two actually attended kindergarten together when their parents both played for the San Diego Chargers.
