2015 Stanford commit
Casey Toohill got a major piece of news about his college future on Tuesday night.
Toohill got a call from his future position coach and defensive coordinator, Lance Anderson, informing him that he had been admitted to Stanford.
"He's coming to San Diego (when the Cardinal's coaches go on the road recruiting), so he was telling me that he was going to come," Toohill said. "And then he added in our phone call tonight that I was admitted. I sent in my application about six, seven weeks. He just said that they read it and I was admitted and I'll get the official letter soon."
"(I was) super excited, obviously. It's the school of my dreams so it's awesome to be able to achieve that. Two years ago if you said that I would be getting admitted into Stanford, I don't know if I would have believed it. It's a great thing and a great blessing. I'm just very excited that I have the opportunity to continue at Stanford and I look forward to playing there the next four five years."
Toohill plans to take an unofficial visit to Stanford later this month to watch the Cardinal host the Utes. He will take his official trip to The Farm in mid-January for the Cardinal's big recruiting weekend.
"I'm going to go to the big one with all the guys, that official one," Toohill said. "I'm just going up for an unofficial because I wanted to see a game. This will be my first game ever at Stanford Stadium. My high school team has a bye and we didn't have one in the regular season so we have a first-round playoff bye and it just worked out with everything and I just wanted to up."
Toohill's Cathedral Catholic squad is currently 9-1 and ranked No. 61 nationally by MaxPreps. Their only loss of the season was to Folsom High School, which is currently ranked No. 4 in the nation by MaxPreps.
Cathedral Catholic's defense is similar to the one Stanford runs, so Toohill has been getting plenty of practice rushing the passer and dropping in coverage.
Toohill has stayed in touch with the rest of Stanford's current commits - and a couple uncommitted Cardinal targets - this season.
"We have a group chat," Toohill said. "Brian Chaffin I think organized it. I talk to those guys kind of on regular intervals, whenever they message in the group chat and whatnot. Also, I still talk to Quenton Meeks and Frank Buncom somewhat regularly. I just remind them about Stanford and try to get them to go there because they're both obviously great players and great kids and I would love to play with them."
