2022 3-star defensive end Jaxson Moi flips to Stanford

On Saturday, Stanford football picked up a commitment from 2022 3-star defensive end Jaxson Moi out of Cathedral Catholic in San Diego, CA. Moi was previously committed to Cal, but after getting admitted a little over two months ago and visiting for the win over Oregon, he has made the decision that Stanford is the place where he wants to further his academic and athletic career. Moi is the 20th commit for Stanford in the 2022 class, joining Ernest “RJ” Cooper, Zach Rowell, Pat Caughey, and Teva Tafiti in the defensive line group.

In his Twitter announcement, Moi said:

“I would like to thank Coach Browning, Coach Wilcox, and the entire Cal coaching staff for the overwhelming respect and support they have shown me throughout this recruiting process. However, after a great deal of prayer, thought, and discussion with my family, I have decided to de-commit from Cal. I am blessed and excited to announce that I have accepted a full scholarship and will be committing to Stanford University to further my academic and athletic career! Big thanks to Coach Shaw, Coach Reynolds, Coach Eubanks, and staff. Thank you for respecting my decision 🙏🏽 Go Card! #CardClass22 🔴 ⚪️ 🌲”

Listed at 6’2”, 260 pounds, Moi has a really good combination of size, strength, and quickness. He gets off the line really quickly and knows how to get into the backfield in a variety of ways, whether it’s overpowering an offensive lineman, using a swim move to get through the line, or just beating a guy off the block. He’s also really aggressive and seems to enjoy getting sacks and tackles for loss. Stanford’s defensive line has been a weak point for them this year, so they need all the help they can get up front. Moi certainly projects to be a nice addition to their defensive line group with the potential to make an impact early in his Stanford career.

It’ll be fun to catch up with Moi in the coming days to learn more about his decision and what he expects to bring to The Farm.
