David Shaw recaps season, discusses first ever early enrollees

Head coach David Shaw met with the media via Zoom Wednesday afternoon for the first press conference since the end of the season to answer questions about the 4-2 season, two historic early enrollees and more about the offseason.

Stanford will not begin spring practice — COVID-19 permitting — until May because of the adjusted academic calendar and there will be two early enrollees on the team by that time, quarterback Ari Patu and safety Jaden Slocum. Shaw went in depth about the process that led to Stanford University allowing high school student-athletes to enroll a quarter early.

He also addressed the positives of last season, especially the four game win streak to end the year. Shaw believes that the team is set up for another step forward this year because of the success earned during a very challenging couple of months.
