Peek on admission, visit

Bo Peek's wait for a decision from Stanford's admissions office concluded much the same way his wait for an offer from the Cardinal did - late at night (Florida time), and with a joyous Peek waking up his parents to share the good news.

"The wait (to hear back from admissions) was definitely very stressful," Peek said. "I actually found out (last week). But I wanted to wait to tweet it out until after my official (visit) so I could thank all of the coaches and everything in person. It was definitely one of the most amazing feelings I've ever had.

"It was funny - when I originally got the offer (last fall), it was really late because of the time change. And I ran in my parents' room and woke them up. And the same thing happened when I found out the news from Coach Shaw that I got admitted. I had fallen asleep and I woke up to a missed call from him. So I called him back and he told me. Same thing - I sprinted to my parents' room and woke them up."

Soon after receiving word that he had been admitted, Peek flew out to the West Coast to take his official visit to The Farm. The visit was Peek's first since he attended the Cardinal's Junior Day last spring.

"It was a great trip," Peek said. "They held everything to the highest standard on the visit. Everything was top notch and they really showed me a good time, so I loved it."

Peek was already familiar with certain components of the Stanford experience due to his previous visits to Palo Alto. But he nonetheless enjoyed the trip, particularly the time he spent with some of the other visitors.

"A lot of the stuff I had already gotten to do and had known about a lot, but it was fun being there with the other recruits... and going with them through everything and talking to them on the trip," Peek said.

There was also ample opportunity for the Tampa native to chat with Stanford's coaches about his future on The Farm.

"I spent plenty of time with the coaches going over film and talking game plan and where I fit in next year and future plans and getting ready for June when I head out there," Peek said.

Peek said that Stanford envisions him playing the zero technique as an interior defensive lineman.

He was hosted on the trip by freshman center Brian Chaffin.

"He was awesome," Peek said. "He was one of the nicest guys you can meet. And it was nice being around (the current players), and again, being with the other recruits who weren't actually committed, getting them around the guys and letting them know how the Stanford locker room is and that's the best."

Although Peek took his official visit to Stanford a week after many of his fellow 2016 Stanford commits, he has already developed a very strong relationship with his future teammates. Many of the Cardinal's recruits communicate frequently through a group text message chat.

"(Our relationship is) awesome," Peek said. "And even just adding Paxton (Segina) who committed and Scooter (Harrington), our class really meshes really well. All of our personalities, there's nobody that is weird with anbody. All of us are really comfortable I'd say with each other. We talk every day, all day on the group chat. I'm just really pumped to be up in school with them and actually hanging out with the guys and playing football together."

Although Peek didn't make it to Stanford Stadium for a game this year, he kept close tabs on the Cardinal's 2015 Rose Bowl campaign from afar.

"I just liked how they continued to improve and really the family atmosphere that they had throughout the year," Peek said. "Facing adversity at the beginning of the season with Northwestern, which was a little unexpected. That was a rough start, but then they kind of buckled down. They slipped up against Oregon but finished with the Pac-12 Championship and the Rose Bowl, so that was huge."
