Hattis picks Stanford

Stanford added a critical piece to its 2016 recruiting class on Sunday night when three-star New Mexico offensive tackle Henry Hattis made a verbal commitment to the Cardinal.
The three-star standout picked Stanford over numerous other offers including ones from UCLA, Texas Tech, Arizona State and Arizona.
Hattis emerged on Stanford's radar after a strong performance at The Opening Oakland Regional when word of his strong showing got back to Stanford's coaching staff via another recruiting who was in attendance. A few days later, Stanford tight ends coach Morgan Turner paid Hattis a visit at his high school, and the Cardinal's relationship with Hattis progressed from there.
Stanford was able to convince Hattis to make his first trip to The Farm in June to participate in the Cardinal's all-positions camp. He had an excellent performance at the camp, and received an offer from Stanford approximately a week later.
Hattis projects as an offensive tackle on The Farm. He's the third offensive lineman who has committed to the Cardinal in the 2016 class, joining fellow tackle Clark Yarbrough and guard Nate Herbig. Stanford is expected to sign four offensive linemen in this recruiting cycle.
Stanford offensive coordinator Mike Bloomgren led the Cardinal's recruitment of Hattis, as he has other top Stanford commits including K.J. Costello, Curtis Robinson, David Long and Bo Peek, among others.
"Henry has had an amazing recruiting experience," said Hattis' high school coach, Heath Ridenour. "His work ethic and commitment to getting better everyday has paid off. Stanford is an excellent choice. I don't feel like he came to this decision lightly. He was very diligent when it came to researching all of the schools and examining his options. In the end Henry chose an amazing school and an outstanding football program. We are so proud of him and excited for his future at Stanford."
