Butler picks Stanford

Stanford added its ninth commitment from four-star prospect in the class of 2016 on Friday afternoon when Rivals250 defensive back Treyjohn Butler announced his verbal pledge to the Cardinal.

Butler picked Stanford over finalists Cal, Arizona State and Northwestern. He joins Malik Antoine, Nygel Edmonds and David Long (though Long could also play receiver) as defensive back commits in Stanford's 2016 class.

The Southern California native camped with Stanford after his sophomore year of high school and received an offer from the Cardinal in February. Stanford has been among Butler's favorites for the duration of his recruitment, and he made things official on Friday afternoon in a ceremony at his high school.

Butler has already been admitted to Stanford.
