Now, with 18 offers, including Stanford to his credit, Alexander has emerged as a national recruit. His two latest offers are from Arizona and Louisiana Tech.
"It's been crazy," Alexander said.
Still, Alexander maintains close contact with Stanford, which was among the first schools to offer, and regional recruiter Lance Anderson.
"Actually I still talk to Stanford once or twice every week still," Alexander said. "Sometimes we talk about that (Coach Anderson) wants to make sure I keep my grades up, but that's not a problem. So my grades, trying to get me out there, trying to get to talk to the other coaches."
Alexander hasn't had a chance to get to know Stanford's other coaches yet (he's been busy with academics and the track season), but should have an opportunity to later this year.
"I have a visit set up with them over the summer," Alexander said. "I'm pretty sure it's going to be June 16th, 17th and the 18th, I want to say."
That visit could go a long way towards determining whether Stanford will continue to be a major player in Alexander's recruitment.
"I'm not going to name any (favorites) yet," Alexander said. "I'll name (favorites) at the end of the summer. But they've definitely shown a lot of love and stayed in contact with me."
Alexander added that in addition to Stanford, Ole Miss, Georgia Tech, Nebraska, and Tennessee are the schools recruiting him the hardest.
Alexander doesn't have any visits planned for the spring. He's busy with track season, where he's placing a strong emphasis on the 200. He hopes to reach the 21.4 second mark in the 200 this season.
Beyond that, Alexander is still taking his time navigating his way through the recruiting process, with a busy summer of traveling likely forthcoming.
"I just want see how things go this spring I want to get to as many colleges as I can this summer, see how I like them instead of waiting until an official," Alexander said.
