Gators show interest in offensive lineman
Spencer Region finds himself uncommitted and open to all comers. Region has three official visits set up in the coming weeks and the possibility of more coming in the future. With just a few weeks left before National Signing Day Cullman (Ala.) offensive guard
The two latest schools to get into the mix for the three-star lineman are Florida and Miami. Both schools recently changed coaching staffs and Region is hoping to pick up offers from the perennial SEC and ACC powers.
"Miami and Florida have both recently asked for my film and they said if they like it they will offer," Region said. "Because of all the coaching changes at those schools I will take a harder look if they decide to offer."
The other schools still under consideration include Auburn, LSU, Louisville and Wisconsin. The last three schools will get visits in the next four weeks.
"I am going down to LSU on the 21st, Louisville on the 14 and Wisconsin on the 28th," he said. "I am hoping to schedule a few other visits in-between."
Region at one point committed to Auburn before backing off that commitment. He is still looking at the Tigers and a few other SEC programs.
"I am done with Alabama, but I am still looking at Auburn and I am looking at UGA sort of, I might reschedule a visit there, but there isn't much time left for them," he said. "Florida is intriguing and that is a great school with great tradition. I know they are talking to my head coach a lot right now. I am just trying to make the best decision I can for my family."
At one point Region planned to be an early enrollee, but with a little under a month to go in the recruiting process he is staying calm and trying to keep his options open.
"I feel like this is the fourth quarter, it is fourth and five and there is no time left in the game. In those situations I am very chill and calm. I know how to handle pressure and this is a high pressure time from some, but not for me," he said. "I just need to do my job and find the right place for myself and my family wherever that might be."
Region is rated a three-star prospect, the No. 20 offensive guard in the nation.
