Baldensburg standout transfers
Josh Wade, the 20-th ranked prospect in Maryland, has decided to transfer out of state. The former Bladensburg standout is only moving 15 minutes down the road to McKinley Technology, but the seven-mile jaunt takes him from the edge of Prince George's County into Washington, D.C.Two-star defensive tackle
"For my future, it was the best move to help me prepare," the 6-foot-2, 255-pound Wade told the Gazette. "McKinley is a great tech school with a lot of different classes to help your future, and I think under coach [Jason] Lane my football career can blossom and I can get even more scholarships So it's better for my future."
In order to comply with district rules, Wade will be staying with his aunt in the D.C. area. His former coach at Bladensburg, Derek Tyler, said Wade's parents initiated the transfer.
"The parents just thought it would be a better move for him to go to a different school," Tyler told the Washington Post. "Hopefully he'll have a great season there and keep his scholarships and have a great career in college."
Wade currently has nine scholarship offers, including several major BCS offers from the likes of West Virginia, Louisville and Illinois.
Last season Wade racked up 43 tackles and 13.5 sacks en route to First Team All-County honors. He was recently selected to the Maryland Crab Bowl, which is similar to an all-star game for local seniors.
