Spartans offer Cascarano

Often the easiest way to find out who the top prospects are on a school's recruiting board is to see what players have been offered by the position/recruiting coach. For Michigan State University a player that fits that mold is offensive tackle Sean Cascarano of Glenbrook South High School in Illinois. SpartanMag.com caught up with the 6-foot-6, 270-pound prospect last night and he gave us the latest on his recruitment.

Michigan State Offensive Line Coach Dan Roushar has strong ties to the state of Illinois. For that reason, it only makes sense to have him recruiting the Land of Lincoln. Two weeks ago Coach Roushar extended a scholarship to Cascarano. It was his first offer and it certainly did not take long for several other schools to take notice and follow suit.

"I have four offers all together, Cascarano said. In addition to Michigan State, I also have offers from Indiana, Cincinnati and Duke offered me last Friday."

Coach Roushar is known for being very meticulous when it comes to recruiting his position. The offer to Cascarano prior to the Michigan State Camp is a direct indication that he is someone that he and the rest of the Spartan staff is very high on.

Cascarano has been in frequent contact with the Michigan State staff in recent weeks and is looking forward to his first trip to East Lansing in the near future.

"I just got off the phone with Coach Dantonio," he said. "We had a good talk. I am planning on going up there soon. I might go up for a day of camp or I might just take an unofficial visit there. I have a busy schedule camp schedule for my high school team, but I definitely plan on getting up there."

In addition to the Spartans, Cascarano is hearing from several other Big ten programs. He was able to attend junior day functions at schools like Northwestern, Illinois, Wisconsin and Notre Dame. Schools, team like Purdue, Vanderbilt and Virginia have also been in frequent contact.

SpartanMag.com asked Cascarano if he has any teams he is favoring and if he has a timetable for his decision?

I like the Big Ten; I have been following the Big Ten all my life. They have good football programs and academics. I plan on making my decision before the end of the summer, but if I am not absolutely certain I may wait and take some official visits. Distance will not be a factor in where I look."

Recently Cascarano attended a combine held in Chicago. At that event Cascarano was able to showcase his skill against many of the top offensive and defensive linemen in the region. Rivals.com has video of Cascarano from the event. Needless to say, Cascarano made the Spartans early evaluation of him look very accurate. Cascarano outperformed numerous prospects that have received considerably more hype.

SpartanMag.com will continue to follow the recruitment of this top Michigan State recruit over the coming and report the latest news on him and his recruitment.
