Hokies impress big visitor

Virginia Tech had a few visitors on hand for the win over Georgia Tech on Thursday night. Amongst those was a major recruit who came away impressed by the trip.

"It was good," Zach Terrell said, father of Rivals250 athlete Dominique Terrell. "They treated us well. The players showed a lot of love and the coaches showed him a lot of love.

"I didn't know if we'd make it, but we got there at about 6:30. When we arrived, he went in with Coach Beamer and talked to Torrian Gray a bit."

How was his time with the coaches?

"Well, Coach Beamer told him, 'You are one of the top players in the state and we want to keep our top players in the state at home, we want you here bad.'"

Clearly Dominique was impressed and his father was as well.

"Oh man, to put it this way, if it was me I'd probably have committed last week, but Dominique's got to make his own decision."

The visit was Terrell's first ever for a real game in Blacksburg, what wowed them about the trip?

"It went really well," he said. "The crowd was electric. Dominique is the type of kid that feeds off the crowd. When he came in, all the fans are hollering his name and he pumps his fist and they went wild.

"He's never really been to a Tech game, he went for a spring game and a basketball game, but never to a football game and Thursday night was electric up there, the stadium was rocking."

While at the game, Terrell spent time with Nick Dew.

"Nick Dew sat with us and kind of told him about Tech and the receivers and his chances to come in and play," he said. "Then, all the defensive backs showed him a lot of love too. It was a good visit."

With all that said, where do they go from here?

"I think he has kind of narrowed his stuff down," he said. "He's looking at the in-states, Virginia and Virginia Tech along with West Virginia.

"I think he is liking Tech. I think Thursday night kind of turned him a bit, but we'll see. We are trying to get up to West Virginia for a visit. I can say, I'm trying to get him to a decision, but that is on him."

At this time, Terrell has yet to schedule any official visits.

Meanwhile, on the season Osbourn improved to 10-0 on the year, a perfect regular season after winning on Friday 72-19.

"It could have been worse, they brought Dominique out with five minutes left in the third quarter," he said. "I think on Friday he had 12 carries for 218-yards.

"I know on the season he's got 1,680-yards rushing, 1,100-yards passing, 24 rushing touchdowns, two punt returns and 16 touchdown passes.

"The difference this year is that they are giving him the ball. Last year he only got it on third and fourth downs, this year he's getting it earlier."
