Cowboys Offered JUCO Center

The Wyoming Cowboys will put a fair amount on recruiting focus on offensive linemen for 2011 signing day and could sign a one or two prospects from the JUCO level.

The Cowboys have offered scholarships to a couple of Iowa Western C.C offensive line teammates in center Dallas Hendrikson and offensive tackle Dan Heiar.

Heiar recently said his interest has peaked in Wyoming because of interest in his fellow teammate.

"Wyoming, we have another kid on our team, Dallas Hendrikson, our center and Wyoming offered him," Heiar said. "We were supposed to go this weekend after the game, but I haven't talked to them yet."

Both Hendrikson and Heiar appear to be December graduates, allowing them to enroll at mid-semester and participate in spring drills. Early enrollment is always advantage to transfer getting a leg up in a program before the season starts next fall.

Hendrikson is a 6-foot-1 and 290 interior linemen who has the ability to move well in a spread formation and looks to be a good fit.

The junior college center says he made good progress at the two year level after leaving high school.

"Coming out of high school, colleges weren't sure about me because of my height," Hendrikson said. "The transition to center has been good. Really it wasn't that hard. And I have to credit the coaches at Iowa Western they really got me ready in a hurry."

Hendrickson is still working on a visit to Laramie, while receiving the one offer from the Cowboys and various interest including Iowa and Kansas State. He also paid Tennessee a visit back in May.
