Is UW close to offering Bowers?

As far as Wisconsin recruiting is concerned, defensive tackle seems to always be an area of interest.

After landing the likes of Beau Allen in the 2010 class, though, it seems the coaching staff has the luxury of being very selective in targeting their top prospects without the disdain and worry of losing them like they might have felt in recent years.

With that being said, is the staff close to offering another three-star prospect out of South Florida?

The short of it is no.

Keith Bowers, the standout defensive tackle from Dwyer High School in West Palm Beach, is still waiting on a UW offer.

"I haven't really been talking to them much," Bowers said.

At this juncture, Bowers has offers from Bowling Green, Eastern Illinois, Florida Atlantic, Marshall, Maryland, Middle Tennessee State, Towson and Youngstown State.

As he progresses further into his senior season, Bowers is focused on playing well on the field with the hopes of that translating into bigger and better offers.

"I'm trying to get some more BCS schools," Bowers said.

Hailing from South Florida, Bowers said distance wouldn't play that much of a role in his decision to commit to a school and that he's willing to go wherever to play at the next level.

He also said that should an offer come from Wisconsin he would be interested in the Badgers.

UW currently has 11 verbal offers for the class of 2011.
