Jennings wants to visit Ohio State

Many recruiting fans have developed the short list of recruits that Ohio State is looking for the remainder of the way but there are some big names out there that are not getting talked about as much in Buckeye circles.

One name that shouldn't be forgotten is Darius Jennings out of Baltimore (Md.). The 5-foot-11, 165 pound athlete has already be singled out to be in the Rivals250 to Watch for 2011 and also has more than 20 offers to show that he is the real deal.

With the calendar turning to May coaches are now in the evaluation period and have a little bit more access to the recruits and the halls of the Gillman School have been abuzz with coaches from programs all over the nation. Jennings will welcome UCLA on Tuesday but over the past couple of days has seen coaches in from WVU, Pittsburgh, Maryland, Virginia, Nebraska, Rutgers and Iowa just to name a few. The Buckeyes have been by recently as well and have made a strong impression on Jennings.

"Right now they see me as an athlete," Jennings said. "They said they could see me on either side of the ball but probably leaning toward offense. They said that they could give me the option if I were to commit."

Co-Defensive Coordinator Luke Fickell has been spearheading the recruitment of Jennings and has been working to get the talented athlete out to Columbus (Ohio) to take a look around at things and hopefully make an even stronger impression on the 2011 star.

"I think I am going to go this summer to one of their camps but I am not sure if I am going to participate in their camp or not," Jennings said.

Stan White, Jr. is a former Buckeye and a coach of Jennings and has been in his ear a little bit telling him what to expect from Ohio State but not trying to oversell it. Jennings has developed his own impression of what he knows about Ohio State to date.

"The school itself, a great football background and the academics as well," Jennings said. "Just from talking with coach Fickell and coach (Jim) Tressel who came down the school once earlier in the year and getting a chance to see how they have a genuine coaching staff. Coach Tressel is a pretty down to earth and funny guy."

But with 24 offers and counting don't expect Jennings to be cutting down his list anytime soon. There is some definite star power in his offer list and he doesn't want to make any hasty moves on such a large decision until he has more time to figure things out.

"I really am not sure yet," Jennings said. "I have not focused on it too much because I am running track right now and I have the school year and I am trying to finish down. I will wait until things die down a little bit and i have a little more time to sit down and focus on everything."

And would a successful visit to Columbus in June for a camp go a long way in upping Ohio State's odds with Jennings?

"Oh yeah, they are a school that I am definitely looking at and will consider." Jennings said.
