Tide pursuing Georgia LB

Decatur (GA) outside linebacker Terrance Smith has fielded scholarship offers from just about every major program in the Southeast after a tremendous junior season and as spring football begins to kick off around the country, Smith is finally getting a chance to see some of the schools that have offered him in person.

"I went to Florida State two weeks ago for an unofficial and it was my first time there," Smith said. "It was a good visit. I'll probably go back for the spring game."

"A lot of my time is going to be taken up by track this spring but I'm going to try to make it to Tennessee for a spring practice and I'm probably going to Alabama's spring game as well."

The 6-foot-4, 210-pound defender received an offer from the Crimson Tide in January during Alabama's first Junior Day event and since then, the Tide have remained among the top contenders for Smith's signature.

"I've liked Alabama for a while now. They are definitely one of the top schools for me so far. I can see myself playing there and I feel like I would really develop into the best possible player I can be if I went there."

Smith said the Tide coaching staff has made an effort to develop a relationship with him and his mother.

"I talk to Coach Burns every week and we have a really good relationship going. I think Alabama is really serious about me and is really recruiting me pretty hard."

There may be plenty of time until signing day but Smith said he hopes to end the recruiting process relatively early.

"I really want to try to get my decision over with by the start of the summer. I feel like I have all the offers I am looking for right now and I just want to get a chance to look at every campus and talk things through with all the coaches. I feel like I'll be ready to make a decision by then."

Smith boasts a 315-pound bench max, a 425-pound squat max and a 3.25 GPA in the classroom.
