Delp's recruiting profile has boomed and Stanford has jumped in

Oscar Delp's recruiting process completed changed after his first game this season when he caught two touchdown passes in West Forsyth's opener. Since then, Georgia, Michigan, Duke, Stanford and others have offered.

"My interest level is very high because of the amazing academics and Stanford in my opinion is “Tight End U”," Delp said in a direct message to Cardinal Sports Report. "Right now I am taking my recruiting process pretty slow and I am waiting for the dead period to end before I make any decisions."

Delp has been in contact with tight ends coach Morgan Turner for about three weeks.

Rivals' Chad Simmons reported Sunday that Michigan and Georgia are the early standouts for Delp.

Delp has family in Michigan and grew up a fan of the Wolverines. Georgia is obviously a football superpower that's close to home.

"Michigan and Georgia are definitely up there at the top," Delp said in his interview with Simmons. "My parents were freakin' out when I got the Michigan offer, then they were really freakin' out when Georgia made the offer."

Duke and Michigan State are also doing well recruiting Delp. Like many recruits right now, Delp says he wants to take visits before making a decision and he doesn't think he's at all close to committing to a school.

The Cardinal have now offered five tight ends in the 2022 class because it is loaded with prospects who meet the academic and athletic requirements. (Stanford also is unlikely to sign a "true" tight end in 2021, although H-back/fullback commit Shield Taylor could get some reps at the position.)

Delp reports a 3.9 GPA and through three games he has eight catches for 120 yards and two touchdowns. He had five catches for 73 yards and a touchdown last week in a 24-21 win over Walton.
